autumn 2025
KJE-3316 Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry - 10 ECTS
Admission requirements
The course is open to candidates with a bachelor degree in natural sciences or related pharmaceutical and medical sciences with a grade C or better in the Norwegian grading system.
It is recommended that students have basic knowledge in general chemistry or physics.
Application code 9371
Course content
The course gives a general introduction into atomic theory and nuclear stability and radioactive decay modes. The course covers the fundamentals of radioactivity in nature and technology with special focus on the use of radioactivity in medicine. The course will give an introduction to radiopharmacology and the development of radioactive probes for imaging and therapy. In the practical part of the course a limited set of radiochemical techniques and handling of radioactive materials will be covered. Topics on radiation protection will also be covered throughout the course. Objectives of the course
