I tider med global endring og utfordringer som den nylige Covid-19-pandemien, er behovet for en helhetlig tilnærming mer tydelig enn noen gang. "One Health" er en slik helhetlig tilnærming som inkluderer ikke bare humanmedisin, men også veterinærmedisin, miljø- og samfunnsvitenskap.

Dette er et nettkurs i et blandet læringsformat (Zoom-Moodle), hvor studentene vil kunne bygge kjernekompetanse for hva som utgjør grunnlaget for One Health-tilnærmingen, som inkluderer tverrfaglig lagarbeid, systemisk tenkning og en grunnleggende forståelse av tilnærmingen. Studentene vil motta 3 ECTS ved fullføring av kurset.

One Health Core Competencies-kurset består av et blandet læringssystem, inkludert synkrone og asynkrone enheter.

I de asynkrone øktene vil deltakerne bli ledet gjennom det teoretiske grunnlaget for tverrfaglig teamarbeid, systemtenkning og One Health-tilnærmingen gjennom selvstudium med interaktive elementer på Moodle-plattformen. Deltakerne vil også se illustrative eksempler på aktuelle vitenskapelige One Health-caser.

Under de synkrone øktene vil deltakerne møtes online via 'Zoom' og jobbe sammen som multi- og tverrfaglige lag. De vil reflektere over og diskutere One Health-tilnærmingen og løse et reelt One Health-problem ved hjelp av en interaktiv problembasert læringsmetode. Innholdet i kurset vil bli gjennomgått i interaktive oppgaver på Moodle. Som en avsluttende oppgave vil deltakerne utvikle en skriftlig rapport – "Mission Plan" for å løse One Health-problemet.

Læringsmål:
Etter å ha fullført kursmodulen skal deltakerne kunne følgende:

• Identifisere hva som utgjør en One Health-tilnærming, definisjoner, historie og aktuelle diskurser.
• Gjenkjenne nåværende globale helseutfordringer, identifisere underliggende problemer og definere deres omfang og innvirkning på menneske-, dyre- og miljøhelse-systemer.
• Lede multi- og tverrfaglige lag, forstå roller og ansvar, bli kjent med konsepter og faglig vokabular fra andre disipliner.
• Utvikle løsninger for One Health-problemer og planlegge deres implementering.
• Være bevisst på det store bildet og gjensidig avhengighet mellom aktører som er involvert i globale helseutfordringer.

In times of global change and challenges such as the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the necessity for a holistic approach is more evident than ever. “One Health” is such a holistic approach that includes not only human medicine, but also veterinary medicine, environmental and social sciences.

This is an online course, in a blended learning format (Zoom-Moodle), in which students will learn about the Core Competencies, the foundation of the One Health approach, which include interdisciplinary teamwork, systemic thinking and a basic understanding of the approach. Students will receive 3 ECTS upon completion of the course.

The One Health Core Competencies course consists of a blended learning system, including synchronous and asynchronous units.

In the asynchronous sessions, the participants will be led through the theoretical foundations of interdisciplinary teamwork, systems thinking and the One Health approach through self-study with interactive elements on the Moodle-platform. Participants will also see illustrative examples of current One Health scientific cases. During the synchronous sessions, participants will meet online via ‘Zoom’ and work together as multi- and interdisciplinary teams. They will reflect and discuss on the One Health approach and solve a real-world One Health problem using an interactive problem-based learning method. The learned content will be reviewed in interactive tasks on Moodle. As a final assignment, participants will develop a written report – the “Mission Plan” for solving the One Health problem.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the module, participants will be able to:

• Identify the One Health approach, its definitions, history, and current discourses.
• Recognise current global health challenges, identify underlying problems and define their dimensions and impact on human, animal and environmental health systems.
• Manage multi- and interdisciplinary teams, understand roles and responsibilities, familiarise with concepts and vocabulary of other disciplines.
• Develop solutions for One Health problems and plan their implementation.
• Be aware of the big picture and interdependencies of stakeholders in global health challenges.
