“The work of translation and linguistic hospitality”
What is a good translation? To approach the question, I use my previous publications, and especially the article about milk bowls, to discuss assumptions and challenges with articulating and translating such cases and meaningful contexts. With the assumption that to understand is to translate, I discuss various relationships between internal or intra-cultural articulation and external or intercultural translation. I use hermeneutics as a model for the paradigm of translation with examples from my own writings.
