Film: Tickle the sky

Welcome to the ballooning championship! People running around, the

equipment is being set up, ventilators rumble loud, the fire is on and the balloon as a

giant who has just woke up after a long sleep lifts his belly first and here he is – all

standing up, perfectly shaped as a drop. And so it starts moving up, up towards the

sky.

Rokas is a hot air balloon pilot who basically grew up in the balloon basket.

He describes how the championship works, gives a glimpse to the technicalities and

explains what is important in ballooning. Ballooning is a team sport, therefore the

movie touches the topic of the relationships, both among people and between the pilot

and the balloon. As it is a complex sport, strict professional attitude mixes with humor

and the romantic nature of the balloon itself all thorough a film. It takes you over

beautiful landscapes, sunsets of the villages from high above and sunrises over the

forests that feel like skimming through the tops of trees with your own bare feet. Until

it touches the ground and The Lord of Heavens is being packed in a small basket.
