APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR NORSTIP SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS

NORSTIP stands for Norwegian scholarship scheme for students from selected partner countries. The scholarship targets students from partner institutions from countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Access to the Application Web is by invitation only! If you have been nominated by your home university to come to UiT, you will receive an email from UiT with the subject "Nomination for student exchange" to invite you to create your application. Please check your email account! If you are not sure, send an email to mobility@uit.no.

IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU BEGIN!

You can only access the Application Web (Søknadsweb) with the email address used by your home university to nominate you to UiT. If you do not know this email address, please send an email to mobility@uit.no . We will tell you which email your university used to nominate you to UiT.


1- CHOOSE INSTITUTION: UiT THE ARCTIC UNIVERSITY OF NORWAY

  1. It is important to choose "UiT The Arctic University of Norway" as your institution because the Application Web (Søknadsweb) is also used by other universities / colleges in Norway.
  2. Here is the lin to the Application Web (søknadfsweb): Choose an institution - Søknadsweb (fsweb.no)


2- ORDER A NEW PASSWORD

  1. Login method: Scroll all the way down to "Login International Applicant"
  2. Click on "Send me a new password" to order a password. Check your inbox and spam folders!
  3. Use ONLY the email address that your university used to nominate you to UiT to order your password! Please send an email to mobility@uit.no IF you are not sure about your email address.


3 - LOG IN AS "INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT"

  1. Click in the field "Email address" to add the email address used by your university to nominate you to UiT. Please send an email to mobility@uit.no IF you are not sure about your email address.
  2. Click in the field "Password" to add the new password that you have received.
  3. Click on "Register new international applicant" to create an account.

1 -HOME ADDRESS

It must be street name, street number, postal code, city and name of home country. P.O.BOX is not accepted!

  • Address format: choose “International format”
  • Address Line 1: Street name and street number (housing number).
  • Address Line 2: optional.
  • Postal Code and City: Postal code is known as zip code in some countries. Tips: You can find the correct postal code by googling your street name and city on Google Maps: Google Maps
  • Country: your country of residence.
  • Mobile number: required in case of emergencies.


1 - PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Email address: make sure your email address is spelled correctly.
  • Citizenship: check whether your citizenship is correct. If not, send an email to mobility@uit.no.
  • Language: CHOOSE ONLY ENGLISH. Please DO NOT choose NORWEGIAN even if you speak the language because important information are sent only to those who have chosen English for international students.
  • Click on “Next” to proceed to the Application webpage
  • Entrance requirements: please ignore this message!

NEVER click on the tab "NEW APPLICATION"! This tab is not for exchange students.

Application deadline: please ignore this because it is not for you.

Documentation submission deadline: You can find the submission deadline in the "Applicaiton Alternatives.

Application alternatives: it means the master's degree programme you are nominated for. Please speak witht he person who nominated you about which master's programme you are supposed to select.

Application Information (Comment Box): Add here the name of the master's degree programme you are nominated for..

HOW TO UPLOAD DOCUMENTS ON THE APPLICATION WEB (SØKNADSWEB)

Please upload all your documents in PDF! DO NOT upload picture files (png., jpg., etc.)!

You can download Microsoft Lens on your device to convert documents/pictures into PDF.

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD ON THE APPLICAITON WEB (SØKNADSWEB)

Please upload ONLY the following documents:

  1. Download and sign the Document Enclosure Form.
  2. Copy of International Passport in PDF.
  3. High School / Secondary School Diploma and Transcript of records in PDF.
  4. Bachelor's degree Graduation Diploma / Certificate in PDF (in its official language + official and duly notarized English translation).
  5. Bachelor's degree final Transcript of Records in PDF (in its official language + official and duly notarized English translation).
  6. Proof of English Language Proficiency in PDF: International admissions | UiT
  7. Statement of Purpose (Motivational Letter): explain why you are applying for the master's programme, your thesis research objectives, and career objectives.
  8. CV / Resumé
  9. Documentation of Name Change (If applicable - it should be official and duly notarized)

You can view your receipt on the tab My applications in the top menu (the menu looks like 3 lines) on the Application Web. An application registration receipt will also be sent automatically to your e-mail address.

You DO NOT need to contact us after you have received the confirmation reseipt by email.

Once you have registered an application, you can log in to Søknadsweb at any time and select "My applications" from the top left menu (three lines in some browsers) to view your application status.

If you only wish to withdraw from one application option, or change the order of preferences, you can do this by selecting "CHANGE APPLICATION."

NOTE! Changes are only possible before the application deadline.

Exchange students are NOT allowed to make multiple applications besides their application for Norstip Scholarship, which is by invitation only.

NEVER click on the tab "NEW APPLICATION"! This tab is not for exchange students.

What happens next?

  1. The Incoming Student Exchange Team (mobility@uit.no) will check whether you have uploaded all the required documents in the section # 7. If there is a missing document, we will inform you about that by email.
  2. If your application is complete, the Incoming Student Exchange Team (mobility@uit.no) will forward your applicaiton to the Central Admission Office (admission@uit.no) to assess whether you meet the admission requirements for the master's programme you have been nominated for.
  3. If you do not meet the admission requirements for the master's programmes you have been nominated for.,the Central Admission Office (admission@uit.no) will inform you by email.

When the assessment process starts?

It will right after the submission deadline 30 April, which means the assessment process will start in May.


What should you do during this phase?

Please wait until you have received an offer of admission (Letter of Acceptance) from the Incoming Student Exchange Team.


When will I receive my Acceptance Letter (offer of admission)?

Your application status will be "Under Review" until the final decision. You will receive a notification by email in June

The deadline for accepting or declining the offer of admission is specified in the "Notification of admission" email that was sent to you!
