Dana Unger
Virgečilgehus
My name is Dr. Dana Unger. I am the International Programme Coordinator at UiT's Department of Psychology and Associate Professor in Work and Organizational Psychology. Thus, I know the basics of impression management at work (Ellis et al., 2002). Let me apply them for you:
Self-promotion:
I am a Work and Organizational Psychology scholar publishing in the best journals of my field (e.g., Journal of Applied Psychology and Journal of Occupational Health Psychology). After having given birth to two beautiful children, I got my second associate professorship by the age of 36. My research and teaching are award-winning.
Ingratiation:
The term ‘award-winning’ makes me laugh out loud; the term ‘award-worthy’ even more so. Indeed, you will find some nice publications on my record. But you will also understand that I worked together with amazingly bright people.
Defense:
You are not convinced, that this is the profile of a great academic? I hope you reconsider when you learn that I have a working-class background. The life of working mothers is quite tough, which makes direct comparisons with my male and childfree colleagues hard.
