Head of Research software engineering (RSE) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway
Gregor focuses on bringing modern software development practices into the research environment to support scientific work.
With a background in computational physics, he completed both his PhD and Postdoc at UiT, where he studied turbulence in the boundary of fusion plasmas using numerical modeling and computer vision models on experimental data. During his academic career, he completed research stays at UKAEA and MIT.
Since becoming a research software engineer, he has been working part-time for the LUMI User Support Team, where he coordinates the LUMI AI team. In addition, he is actively involved in teaching software engineering across various courses at UiT, the CodeRefinery project, and international HPC courses. He specializes in Python, Julia, and C++ projects within the research environment.
