Additional Operating Funds for PhD Candidates at the HSL Faculty
PhD candidates employed at the HSL Faculty can apply for up to NOK 5000 in additional operating funds for participation in academic activities that require staying at a campus other than their regular workplace.
This can include participation in seminars such as breakfast seminars, research seminars, the Kven seminar, Sami week, ARCHUM, etc., or working at another campus for shorter periods than where the candidate has their regular workplace. The purpose of the support is to contribute to better integration and academic belonging between campuses.
For 2025, a budget of NOK 30,000 has been allocated for additional operating funds that can be awarded to six applicants.
Funds are awarded continuously based on applications, depending on the purpose of the travel and when the regular annuum is committed to other purposes. You can also apply for additional operating funds after activities have taken place, provided they occurred in 2025. The support does not cover travel for participation in PhD courses, fieldwork/data collection, and other expenses that should normally be covered by the regular annuum.
The application must include the following information (there is no specific application form):
-
Employment period in the PhD position (date from/to)
-
Has a regular workplace at [department and campus]
-
Information about sub-project number (annuum)
-
Details of the academic activities for which support is sought, campus, and period
Applications should be sent via email to senior advisor mayvi.johansen@uit.no
