The beauty of science journalism

Award-winning science journalist Jacopo Pasotti will share his thoughts about science communications and his own methods. Pasotti is specialised in the polar regions and he has been awarded a grant to embed with researchers at the iC3 centre in Tromsø for several months this autumn.

The award has enabled Jacopo Pasotti to follow iC3 researchers’ fieldwork in and document the analysis of samples in the new Polar MAGIC geosciences laboratory. He has been based at iC3’s offices in Tromsø throughout this period.

Jacopo Pasotti’s reporting has long focused on the frozen parts of the planet. He has written several popular science books and has been on assignment in Antarctica, at the North Pole and in the Himalayas. At iC3 he has been learning about the global carbon cycle, he has been interviewing researchers, and preparing story leads.

The ERC-supported FRONTIERS Residency program enables journalists to spend 3 to 5 months at a European research institution. Jacopo Pasotti and iC3 were one of only seven journalist-institution partnerships from across Europe to win a program grant this year.

The lecture will be held in English, and it will be streamed.
