Voluntary workshop in research supervision: Gender, diversity, and power in research supervision

Wooden desk with notebook and pencil

Addressing gender, diversity, and power in postgraduate supervision is essential for creating an inclusive and equitable research environment. By understanding and actively engaging with these dynamics, supervisors can support the diverse needs of their candidates and contribute to a more just and inclusive academic community. As you embark on this course in research supervision, consider how you can integrate and develop an awareness into your practice to enhance the experiences and outcomes of all students.

We are lucky to have Anne Britt Flemmen to introduce this important theme. She is particularly recognized for her contributions to gender studies and sociology. Her work often explores themes related to gender, power dynamics, and social structures, with a focus on understanding how these elements intersect and influence various aspects of society. She examines the complexities of gender relations and the impact of societal norms on individual and collective identities. Her scholarly contributions have been influential in advancing discussions around gender equality and diversity, particularly within educational and institutional contexts.
