Meditation

When we allow ourselves to become quiet, we get to see how our mind really works.

A meditation practice can support our best aspirations, rather than feed our expectations for the way we think we "should" think, feel, or be.    We might find that we begin to like our fellow human beings more, too.  But don't take anyone's word for it!  You are welcome to see how it is for you -- all that is required is curiosity, openness, and a willingness to pay attention to what is happening right now.

We begin our Thursday morning practice with a short warm-up with light movement (about 15 mins), and then sit together for about 20 minutes. We practice zazen and breath awareness (Shamatha) styles and the instruction is in Norwegian or English. There are a few minutes for feedback and questions at the end.

You don't need a yoga mat, just yourself.   A few cushions are available but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.  You may also sit on a bench.

The sessions are free and open to everyone at UiT.
